How does the monthly accounting service work?

You can read more in our article about the accounting service.

Can Unicount accountants register my company for VAT?

Yes, Unicount can register your company for VAT in Estonia for a fee. VAT registration requires monthly tax reporting based on your source documents.

Can Unicount accountants register my company for OSS or IOSS?

Yes, Unicount can register your company for OSS or IOSS for a fee. These registrations also require monthly tax reporting that Unicount does for a separate fee.

Can Unicount accountants register my company as an employer in Estonia?

Unicount cannot register your company as an employer in Estonia as there is no such registration and no employer identification numbers (EIN) are issued in Estonia. Unicount can submit your monthly payroll and dividend information with social and income tax declaration based on your source documents

What is the software Unicount uses for expense management and invoicing?

Unicount uses Envoice software for expense management and invoicing. The software subscription is included in the monthly service fee.

Does my Estonian company need an accountant if it has no activity?

A company with zero transactions is considered dormant and does not need a monthly accountant. However, every Estonian company including dormant ones must file an annual report by 30 June each year. Unicount offers a standalone annual accounts service starting from €199 for dormant companies, without requiring a monthly accounting plan.

When does my Estonian company need to register for VAT?

VAT registration becomes mandatory when your company’s taxable turnover in Estonia exceeds €40,000 in a calendar year. Once you cross this threshold, you have three business days to register. Unicount can handle VAT registration for your company for a fee, and from that point, monthly KMD declarations are required.

What is a TSD declaration and when do I need to file one?

A TSD (tulu- ja sotsiaalmaksu deklaratsioon) is Estonia’s monthly combined income and social tax declaration. It is required every month your company pays a salary, director’s fee, or dividends to a natural person. It must be submitted and the associated taxes paid by the 10th of the following month. Unicount’s Standard plan and above include TSD filing as part of the monthly service.

Can I manage my Estonian company accounting from outside Estonia?

Yes. Unicount’s accounting service is entirely online. All document submission, invoicing, and communication with your accountant happens through Unicount’s cloud platform. There is no requirement to visit Estonia or meet your accountant in person.

What is the difference between the Lite plan and the Micro plan?

The Lite plan at €29 per month gives you access to invoicing and expense management software only. No Unicount accountant is assigned to your company and no monthly tax filings are included. It suits companies with no VAT registration and no employees. The Micro plan at €99 per month includes a Unicount accountant who handles your bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting on your behalf, with up to 20 source documents per month included.

How does Unicount handle my company’s annual report?

Annual accounts preparation is available as a standalone service starting from €199 for dormant companies or included as one monthly accounting fee for active companies on a paid plan. Unicount reconciles your documents, prepares the profit and loss statement and balance sheet, and handles submission to the Estonian Business Register.

Can Unicount provide accounting for a company that has activity in multiple countries?

Unicount provides Estonian accounting and tax reporting services. If your company has tax reporting obligations in other countries, for example VAT registration in Germany or payroll in France, Unicount is not able to cover those obligations. Unicount can assist with Estonian filings only and would recommend partnering with a local advisor in each additional country.

Can I get a accounting and tax related consultation if I am not a Unicount virtual office service client yet?

Yes, Unicount can issue you a prepayment invoice and answer your questions in writing.
